Abstract
Dairy operations face challenges in providing high-quality feed to lactating cows. However, incorporating grazing can reduce feed costs and maintain milk production. By planting high-quality forage, cattle can access it one or two times a day, providing a high-quality supplement or replacement for a portion of the total mixed ration. This system allows the cattle to select a high-quality diet, reducing feed costs and ensuring a reliable grazing system year-round.
